The issues within biodiversity are related to the threats involved in cultural diversity. I think it is important to realize that biodiversity and cultural diversity go hand in hand. Biodiversity can be looked at like our worlds landscape; the setting you are in influences your culture. Biodiversity needs to be maintained, and unfortunately things such as pollution, unsustainable use of natural resources, degradation of habitat and more are negatively effecting the environment around us. To help this, I believe the government should be actively involved. With their funding and power, we could begin taking more action in protecting biodiversity and cultural diversity.
The reason I think that government should be actively involved is because they need to support their countries diversity. The programs that are funded by the government give citizens a sense of belonging and an opportunity to make a difference. When something so powerful is holding opportunities out right in front of you, you are going to take them. Raising awareness is a necessity because many people don’t realize how our biodiversity and cultural diversity is slowly going downward. Our culture makes us who we are, and it is crucial to protect that.
Many people will argue that the government already has enough laws to protect our land, or shouldn't be funding more money into this cause when they could be using it elsewhere. However, the simple fact of simply funding a project without making efforts or noticeable actions simply just isn't enough. I stand strong with my belief that we need to protect our land. The United States currently provides funding and has a plentiful amount of organizations that we can use to get involved, although other countries do not. I believe we need to take this matter, and effort, worldwide and get everyone involved. We need to be the change we want to see in the world!
